Teen arrested in connection with stabbing

SAN RAFAEL, CA

The boy was contacted early Wednesday morning at his San Rafael home and was taken to the police station where he was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy, participating in a gang and attempted murder, Cpl. Lisa Holton said.

The teen is a known gang member but is not believed to be the person who stabbed the victim, a 26-year-old San Rafael man, Holton said.

Police found the victim in the 200 block of Woodland Avenue around 7:30 p.m. suffering from stab wounds to his upper torso.

He was taken to Marin General Hospital where he is in stable condition, Holton said this morning.

The motive for the stabbing is unclear, but police believe the attackers had intended to kill the victim because of the severity of his injuries, Holton said.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call San Rafael police at (415) 485-3000 or Crime Stoppers at (415) 472-2746. Spanish speakers may call (415) 497-9945.
