Hundreds turn out for SJ Giants job fair

SAN JOSE, CA

The team has plans to hire about 100 people to work during the season as ticket taker, scoreboard operator, usher and parking attendant.

Team officials say 575 people applied, with some standing in line for two hours before the doors to Municipal Stadium were opened.

Katherine Krassilnikoff, assistant to team President Jim Weyermann, says in 2007 the team's job fair attracted about 100 people. Last year the number swelled to 550, with Krassilnikoff saying even rocket scientists and ex-chief financial officers applying for jobs.

Team officials are expected to make their hiring decisions within two weeks.
