Officers responded reports of a shooting at the restaurant at 2713 Contra Loma Blvd. at around 6:30 p.m., according to Antioch police.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim, Antioch resident Joseph Martinez, was involved with one of two groups of males that got into a verbal fight in front of Pizza Hut. Martinez was apparently driving away when one of the subjects pulled out a gun and fired several rounds.
Martinez was shot multiple times. He ran into Pizza Hut and collapsed.
The suspected gunman fled.
Martinez was taken to John Muir Medical Center where he was reported to be in critical condition.
