Resident suffers burns after trying to put out fire

A San Francisco resident suffered burns when he tried to put out a fire on the outside of his apartment building.

A San Francisco resident suffered burns Thursday when he tried to put out a fire on the outside of his apartment building.

The afternoon's fire started above a storefront on Chestnut Street in the city's Marina District.

Fire crews put it out quickly.

They say the flames damaged the outside walls of the three-story structure.

Officials do not yet know how the fire started.
