The Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame will have five new members, led by Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis.

Davis did not attend the ceremony on Monday night, but was said to be represented by John Madden.

Other inductees were Olympic skating champion Brian Boitano, Oakland A's shortstop Bert Campaneris, USF soccer coach Stephen Negoesco and 49ers receiver R.C. Owens.

Madden spoke about Davis, who probably should have been in long ago.

"I think a lot of people were surprised that Al Davis wasn't in the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame, and he belongs there and everyone knows that, but I think they had some rule there for a while that only players and coaches, but even under players and coaches, he belongs there," said Madden.
