Police are investigating the attempted theft of an ATM in Oakland.

The machine was inside a Safeway on Redwood Road.

Someone tied a rope around the ATM and apparently tried to yank it out of its foundation, without success.

The store was closed to customers, but open for deliveries. This is the third incident in a month in the East Bay.

There is no indication they're related.
