Wind advisory issued for Bay Area

The advisory will be in effect from noon until 8 p.m. for the coastal North Bay, coastal San Francisco peninsula, and areas above 1,000 feet in elevation throughout the region.

A vigorous late-season storm will likely produce sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph by this afternoon. Gusts as high as 50 mph are anticipated.

Residents are advised to use extra caution while driving high-profile vehicles.

San Francisco, Santa Cruz, San Mateo, Marin, Monterey, Contra Costa, Napa, Sonoma, Santa Clara and Alameda counties are affected.
