Several Bay Area restaurants are donating a portion of their Saturday's earnings to Gunnar Sandberg, the Marin Catholic baseball player who was struck in the head by a ball.

Gunnar's family says he is out of a coma and showing signs of improvement. His medical bills are mounting though, so five restaurants in Contra Costa and Marin Counties are pitching in.

Saturday's fundraiser was organized by De La Salle High School in Concord, the team Gunnar was playing against when he was injured.

The restaurants participating in the fundraiser include:
Rocco's Ristorante & Pizzeria in Walnut Creek
McCovey's Restaurant in Walnut Creek
Ed's Mudville Grill in Clayton
Norm's Place in Danville
Wipeout Bar and Grill in Greenbrae
