The big apple dethroned Chicago which was last year's No. 1.
Rounding out the top five were Melbourne, Tokyo, Madrid and London. San Francisco dropped to No. 10; it ranked third last year.
The poll ranked 29 cities across the globe based on factors such as ratio of men to women, weather, unemployment and new restaurant and club openings.
