American cars making comeback with consumers

A new poll by Associated Press finds more Americans like American cars than Asian-made vehicles. Thirty-eight percent believe U.S. cars are of better quality" Thirty-three percent said Asian cars are better.

This is a big turnaround since the last poll in 2006 when 46 percent said Asian cars were superior. The survey comes as General Motors announced it is paying back billions in loans because of robust sales.

"GM's products are stronger than they've been in many years that explains why in March, March was the sixth month in a row that all four of our brands, Chevy, Buick, GMC and Cadillac increased year over year retail sales," said one spokesman.

Much of the success is attributed to all the troubles Toyota is having with runaway cars and recalls.
