Poll shows Whitman leading Poizner in primary

In the Republican primary for governor, a new poll conducted by Capitol Weekly and Probolsky Research shows former eBay CEO Meg Whitman with a 28-point lead over State Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner, 47 to 19 percent.

That shows Poizner closing the gap, compared to previous polls.

More than one-third of Republican primary voters surveyed say they are still undecided.

The winner of that race will face Democrat Jerry Brown or political activist Peter Schurman in the general election.
