Oakland police say more tires found slashed

OAKLAND, CA

At 8:30 a.m., police received a report of vandalism in the 2900 block of Viola Street, Officer Jeff Thomason said.

Officers responded and were told that the victim's vehicle had its tires slashed overnight. While police were out there, seven other victims approached them and said the tires on their vehicles were also slashed, Thomason said.

On Wednesday, police received reports of about 30 vehicles that had slashed tires in and around the 4600 block of Brookdale Avenue, which is less than a mile from the location of today's reported vandalism.

Thomason said police have not confirmed if the two cases were connected, but said "obviously something's going on out there."

No arrests have been made in connection with the vandalism, he said.
