Yard supervisor arrested for lewd contact with minors

MARTINEZ, CA

Janis Thompson, 44, was arrested at her home in Martinez on suspicion of having lewd and lascivious contact with minors and sexual exploitation of a child, according to Martinez police.

Investigators obtained a warrant for Thompson's arrest after they received two tips from the Sheridan Police Department in Wyoming and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children within the past six months.

Police were told that a female suspect had been making contact with boys through the Xbox 360 live gaming system. The female allegedly had conversations with boys through the gaming system and eventually exchanged phone numbers with them, called them up and instigated sexual conversations, police said.

Investigators followed up on the tips and identified Thompson as the suspect. Police said they found evidence in her home, but did not elaborate on what sort of evidence they found.

Police notified the Mount Diablo Unified School district of the arrest. School district officials were not immediately available for comment this afternoon.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Martinez police Detective Michael Estanol at (925) 372-3452.
