Digital camera companions put to the test

Perhaps there's nothing more frustrating than running out of space on your digital camera in the middle of a vacation. But there's a handy new gadget you can take with you that will solve your dilemma.

It used to be impossible to take pictures when your memory card became full. You would have to first download the images to your computer to make room. But Good Housekeeping says digital camera companions are making life easier for photographers.

"These media players have really large hard drive capacities and a large viewing screen and they're compatible with various media cards," said Rachel Rothman of Good Housekeeping.

Test engineers at the Good Housekeeping Research Institute rated the media players for ease of use. They also looked at how quickly you could turn the devices on and transfer data from the memory card onto the device. Once your images are transferred, you can delete them.

"Our favorite media player bar none was the Wolverine -- really fast and easy to use," said Rothman.
