Car crashes into house in W. Santa Rosa

SANTA ROSA, CA

The unidentified male driver, who was alone in the older-model Volvo, suffered moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, Battalion Chief Mark Basque said.

The Volvo was traveling north on Fulton Road at about 6:45 a.m. when it left the road, drove through a backyard on Dixon Place, crashed through a fence and struck the corner of a single-story house at 2496 Placer Drive, Basque said.

The crash destroyed the kitchen and broke several windows, Basque said. Three adults were at the home when the crash happened but were uninjured, Basque said.

Firefighters shored up a wall and the home's roof, and the gas and electric service remained on, Basque said. Damage is estimated at $30,000, he said.

Basque said the Volvo was traveling "at a pretty good clip" based on the distance between the house and the road.
