Making your garden fire-safe

Fire-resistant plants! Find out what you can plant in your yard to provide a fire-safe environment.

About the Demonstration Garden:

This is a public garden demonstrating non-pyrophytic and low water use plants and trees. The garden is the first of its kind in Marin and the largest in the State.

The new Demonstration Garden serves as a beautiful example of low water use plants that are also fire resistant, both of which are of great concern with our current climate condition. The public is welcome to tour the new garden and learn about the types of plants chosen and why they might make good choices for your garden and provide a fire safe environment around your home.

The garden includes 800 native, Mediterranean and succulent plants. A bubbling water feature utilizes a drainage catch basin and a pathway that meanders through the garden for the public to explore.

The design of the pathway and bridge was carefully planned to allow for walkers and wheelchairs.
