Police investigate stabbing as gang-related attack

GILROY, CA

Officers responded to a cell phone call from a man saying he had been stabbed near the 8100 block of Murray Avenue at around 10:15 p.m., according to Gilroy police.

Arriving officers found the injured caller lying in the road near Grant Court. He was identified as a parolee and criminal street gang member, police said.

The victim was taken to a trauma center to be treated. His injuries were not expected to be life threatening.

Numerous witnesses told police the victim had been assaulted and stabbed by several males who then fled the area in a car. Investigators determined that the attack had been gang-related and that the victim was specifically targeted.
