One dead after fiery car crash in Concord

CONCORD, CA

The crash was reported at about 10:45 a.m. at the intersection of state Highway 4 and state Highway 242, CHP Officer A. Paulson said.

One of the vehicles caught fire, and all three people in that car were airlifted to a hospital with major injuries, according to Paulson. One person who had been in that car was pronounced dead this afternoon.

Other victims were injured as well but Paulson did not know the extent of their injuries.

Both directions of Highway 242 at Olivera Road and both directions of Highway 4 at Highway 242 were closed for more than an hour while emergency personnel tended to the scene, Paulson said.
