At about 1:30 p.m., officers from the Antioch Police Department followed the suspect from a hotel on Kato Road in Fremont to the area of Milmont Drive and Kato Road, where the car struck a curb and hit a berm, Fremont police Detective Bill Veteran said.
When the suspect got out of the car, shots were fired and the suspect ended up being transported to a local trauma center.
A female passenger who was in the car is also in the hospital for injuries unrelated to the gunfire.
Veteran said he is not sure of their conditions.
