Sheep flood Highway 4 near Martinez

MARTINEZ, CA

The first report came in at about 10 a.m. reporting that eight sheep were in the center divider on westbound Highway 4 just east of Interstate Highway 680, the CHP said.

By 10:02 a.m., the number of sheep in the road was up to about 25 and more were on their way up from under the freeway. There were reports at one point of more than 100 sheep in the area.

The CHP created a traffic break and by about 10:39 a.m. they had herded all the sheep off the roadway.

The sheep did not cause any accidents and no animals were injured, according to the CHP.
