2 arrested in connection with commercial burglaries

SAN CARLOS, CA

An officer patrolling San Carlos early Thursday morning noticed a suspicious vehicle parked in front of Country Club Cleaners at about 2:45 a.m., police said.

The officer stopped to investigate and two men near the car ran away, according to police.

The men ignored the officer's commands to stop, and police chased the suspects over fences and into the backyards of homes in the 900 block of Holly Street. They were apprehended with the help of the K-9 unit.

During the chase, it was discovered that the front window of Country Club Cleaners had been smashed and the cash register removed, police said. The register was later found nearby.

The suspects, Danny Alan Hamilton and Shawn Joseph Reilly, both 24-year-old South San Francisco residents, were booked into San Mateo County jail on suspicion of commercial burglary, conspiracy to commit a crime, resisting arrest, possession of burglary tools and trespassing.

Hamilton and Reilly are suspected in three commercial burglaries in San Mateo as well as several other burglaries throughout San Mateo County, police said.
