New trend of dyeing dogs in Beijing

A controversial new trend in preening pets has animal rights groups crying foul.

Not content with haircuts and massages -- pet owners in Beijing are clipping and dyeing their dog's coats to make them look like other animals. It costs $7 to dye one ear -- and up to $300 for trimming and permanently dyeing larger dogs.

The dye is based on makeup extract. The makeovers last about six months.
