Police shoot man outside Concord apartment

CONCORD, CA

Police say they got a call about a disturbance just after 6 p.m. Wednesday night in the area of Hillsborough Court.

When officers got there, they say they found the suspect and realized he was a wanted felon. They say he took off on foot and when confronted in a carport, he pulled out a handgun and fired at the officers.

They fired back, killing him. Neighbors say there have been several recent incidents involving this man.

"I think it's crazy. This is the fourth incident in the past three weeks here. And I have 15-year-old boys, I don't even let them come in the court you know, it's bad," said resident Donna Zukauckas.

Police have not released the name of the suspect.

The two officers were unhurt and have been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure.
