A man was shot in the head during an apparent drug-related robbery at a hotel in Vallejo early this morning, a police lieutenant said.

The shooting was reported at about 5 a.m. at Travel Inn Vallejo, located in the 100 block of Lincoln Road East. Officers responded to find a man suffering from a grazing gunshot wound to the head, Vallejo police Lt. Jim O'Connell said. The man claimed he had been robbed of $6,000. Investigators believe the robbery was related to the sale of narcotics, O'Connell said. The victim was hospitalized with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, he said. Investigators were later able to locate and arrest James Runkle, 23, of Rodeo in connection with the shooting. Runkle was booked into county jail on suspicion of armed robbery and assault with a firearm, according to O'Connell.
