Couple escapes 2-alarm house fire in Orinda

ORINDA, CA

The fire was reported at 2:35 a.m. at a home on Camino Don Miguel, Fire Marshal Michael Mentink said.

The couple awoke to the sound of smoke detectors and got out of the house safely, according to Mentink.

He said the blaze was contained mostly to the home's attic.

"It was a challenging fire because it's very old construction materials," Mentink said.

He said the house was built in the 1930s.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, he said.
