Two Vallejo fire stations to close Monday

Two fire stations in Vallejo will be shut down Monday morning in an effort to save the city money.

The two stations service the areas of North Vallejo and Glen Cove. Daily staffing levels are also being reduced from 18 firefighters to 15 because of the city's budget troubles.

Last July, the Mare Island station was shut down.

The fire department warns response times for both fire and paramedic calls will increase because of the longer distances crews will have to travel.

Vallejo will be relying on neighboring fire districts for backup.
