Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger formally introduced his nominee for chief State Supreme Court justice on Thursday.

Schwarzenegger walked into the Capitol rotunda with appeals court judge Tani Cantil-Sakauye and the man she would replace Chief Justice Ron George.

Cantil-Sakauye said she was humbled by the nomination and talked about what it means to her daughters.

"And their mother, well, a man of tremendous vision appointed her or nominated her to lead the highest court in California. Is history remarkable or what?" she said.

If confirmed, she would become the first Filipino to serve on the court, but must first be confirmed by the judicial appointments commission and California voters in November.
