Suspected felon hides in Sausalito waters for hours

SAUSALITO, CA

Isaias Deleon, 21, who was sought by police on felony warrants totaling $235,000, was stopped riding in a pickup truck on Bridgeway at Johnson Street at around 2:30 p.m. after a Sausalito police officer recognized him as a wanted suspect, according to the San Rafael Police Department.

The suspect jumped out of the truck and ran toward Pelican Harbor, where he entered the marina area and hid.

Officers from the Marin County Sheriff's Office, the Coast Guard Sausalito, Novato and San Rafael police departments and a Sonoma County sheriff's helicopter team responded to the emergency search, and the docks were sealed off.

At around 4:20 p.m., Deleon was spotted hiding in the water near a sailboat by Coast Guard boat crewmembers. He was taken into custody without further incident.

The suspect was taken to Marin General Hospital. Officers believe the suspect was in the 60-degree water for most of the time it took to find him.

Deleon was arrested for multiple outstanding warrants, which included assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, cruelty to a child, intimidating a witness and dangerous drugs.
