Young girl's face bitten by pit bull

OAKLAND, CA

Emergency crews were called to 82nd Avenue near MacArthur Boulevard in Oakland Saturday afternoon. Family members say the girl was bitten in the face while meeting the dog for the first time. That was after the pit bull's owner assured her it was a nice dog.

"As a 7-year-old girl, she doesn't really understand what's going on. All she knows is that the dog bit her," said Lt. Chris Landry with the Oakland Fire Department.

Family members tell us the little girl is going to be just fine after undergoing surgery Saturday night.

The dog's owner has been interviewed by police, but so far no charges have been filed. His pit bull is being held by animal services.
