Car sprayed with gunfire in Mission District shooting

SAN FRANCISCO

The shooting happened at about 10:20 p.m. at the intersection of 26th and Harrison streets, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.

Esparza said a young man believed to be in his teens fired shots at the car and then fled.

Bullets struck the windshield but three people inside the vehicle, two 19-year-olds and a 20-year-old, were unhurt, Esparza said. A dog in the car suffered minor injuries.

Esparza said that shortly before the shooting, the occupants of the car had stopped to talk to some people they recognized at 26th Street and Treat Avenue. As they left and drove around the block, the shooter appeared.

No arrest has been made. The shooting is still under investigation.
