Gas line ruptures near Pleasant Hill BART station

PLEASANT HILL, CA

The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office received a call at 9:12 a.m. reporting that a construction worker had hit a gas line near Jones Road and Coggins Drive in an unincorporated part of the county, sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee said.

PG&E was notified at 9:19 a.m. and a crew was at the scene by 9:24 a.m., Molica said.

The break was in a 2-inch gas distribution line, and shutting it off to make repairs will not impact service to any customers.

Jones Road was shut down while crews worked to squeeze off the line. The leak did not affect BART service, Molica said.

No evacuations were necessary and no customers lost service.
