Police identify local tattoo artist fatally shot Friday

OAKLAND, CA

At about 11:30 a.m. Friday, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 10000 block of MacArthur Boulevard, where they found Joshua suffering from gunshot wounds on the sidewalk, police Officer Jeff Thomason said.

Joshua, a Hayward resident, was transported by ambulance to Highland Hospital where he died at 12:09 p.m., according to the Alameda County coroner's bureau.

Joshua apparently was in the area to visit friends. A gunman approached him, opened fire and then fled, Thomason said.

Investigators are trying to establish a motive for the shooting. No arrests have been made.

The shooting is the 52nd homicide in Oakland in 2010.
