SALINAS, CA

Officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 1000 block of Partridge Way at about 7:40 p.m.

Arriving officers found Manzo suffering from one gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to Natividad Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

A second victim was located later, a 24-year-old man who had been shot in the lower leg. He was taken to Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital and later released.

A preliminary investigation indicated the victims were standing in front of a home when they were approached by a man about 5 feet 8 inches tall wearing black clothing, police said.

The suspect opened fire on the two victims and fled onto Falcon Drive where a dark-colored, four-door car was waiting, possibly a Honda. The car was last seen heading north on Falcon Drive toward Boronda Road.

The homicide is being investigated as gang-related.
