Shots fired during attempted robbery in San Jose

SAN JOSE, CA

Owners of neighboring retail stores in the Blossom Valley Plaza said the shooting victim appeared to be alert when he was taken away by an ambulance for emergency care.

Witnesses say they became suspicious when they saw as many as four males in a white car parked outside the check cashing outlet shortly after noon. Minutes later, they heard two shots fired. The suspects drove off.

A vehicle matching the one seen at the robbery scene has been stopped a few miles away in the Alum Rock district of San Jose. No other details are known.

Owners of other stores said that Check 'n Go normally has two or three employees on duty, and the store has tight security. They said that robberies at the plaza occur from time to time.

It is located a few hundred feet from an on-ramp for Highway 85, making getaways easy. Shop owners praised San Jose Police, however, for quick response time and for keeping a close watch on their businesses.
