Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger launched the Internet based California Telehealth Network.

Doctors in isolated communities can now consult, in real time, with specialists at major research hospitals via the state run tele-conferencing network.

It will also give health care providers access to patients' prescriptions, and medical records.

The $30 million project is being financed largely by the Federal Communications Commission.
