Drinking water helps shed pounds

Many successful dieters swear by drinking water and now there's research to back them up.

A study out of Virginia Tech University finds that people who started meals by drinking 16 ounces of water lost more weight than dieters who didn't.

After three months, the water-drinkers dropped more than 15 pounds, while the non-water drinkers lost about 11.

Researchers say the reason may be pretty simple -- water simply makes people fuller, so they eat less.
