Islamic leader working with families of jailed hikers

SAN FRANCISCO

The families of Sarah Shourd, Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal say the chairman of the Organization of the Islamic Conference has agreed to intervene in their case.

The families say Abdoulaye Wade of Senegal is working with Iranian authorities at the highest levels. They believe his involvement will help move the case in a positive direction.

The Americans have been jailed in Iran since July of last year after being captured while hiking along the Iraq-Iran border. Iran has accused them of spying.
