Union Pacific train strikes car left on tracks

FREMONT, CA

A westbound train struck the vehicle at about 3:15 a.m. north of Clarke Drive, Union Pacific spokesman Aaron Hunt said. No injuries were reported and the train was not damaged. It is not clear how the car got onto the tracks, since the spot where it was abandoned is not near a crossing, Hunt said. There was no damage to the tracks, he said. Amtrak spokeswoman Vernae Graham said the incident delayed one Capitol Corridor train by 15 minutes this morning.
