Juvenile jumps out of car on Highway I-80

FAIRFIELD, CA

Officers received a report from a witness about someone possibly falling out of a car in the slow lane of eastbound Interstate Highway 80 at about 10:33 p.m. Sunday, CHP spokesman Officer Ralph Caggiano said.

Responding units went to the location in southern Fairfield, which was about one mile west of the Red Top Road exit on the highway, and found a female juvenile and a car with one other person in it on the right-hand shoulder, Caggiano said.

The juvenile had apparently jumped out of the car on her own, Caggiano said. The Solano CHP office is investigating whether she jumped out due to a fight with the driver, possible intoxication, or another reason, he said.

An ambulance arrived at the scene at 10:41 p.m., Caggiano said. The juvenile suffered moderate injuries including cuts and scrapes to her arms and shoulders, road rash, and a fat lip, he said.

The girl was treated at a Kaiser Permanente hospital in Vallejo and released to her parents, Caggiano said.

The driver of the car apparently did not cooperate with responding CHP officers who were seeking information, Caggiano said, and he was taken into custody for resisting arrest.

The incident did not block traffic on the highway, Caggiano said.
