Juvenal Chavez

He currently leads approximately 3,000 members in 17 retail locations across Northern California.

A self-made immigrant, entrepreneur, Mr. Chavez began his career in 1986 while managing his first retail location through a partnership. In 1991, he branched off and purchased Country Time Meats in San Jose, California. By employing his vision of offering superb customer service and quality products, and leadership values of care and respect for customers and employees, he gained quick success in the Hispanic market. By 1993 he expanded the company to include larger stores with deli and taqueria operations which lead to him naming the company Mi Pueblo Foods Center. In 1999 Mr. Chavez established the company's fourth and flagship store resulting in the revitalization of the Story Road and King Road community in San Jose, symbolizing his innovative and strategic business philosophy.

Described as focused, passionate, and sincere, Mr. Chavez has infused Mi Pueblo Foods with his brand of people-focused leadership, vision and spirit. He is dedicated to sharing his experience, expertise and passion for serving the Hispanic community with his employees and local communities. Through Mi Pueblo University, an in-house training program, he spends countless hours teaching employees about customer service and other key elements to the business. Mr. Chavez believes in the potential of each employee to grow and succeed.

Juvenal Chavez has become a recognized player in the grocery retail business receiving numerous awards such as "Innovator of the Year". In 2009, the National Grocers Association also named Mi Pueblo Foods "Outstanding Community Based Retailer." The Mexican American Community Services Agency named him one of the most influential Latinos of the Silicon Valley in 2009.

Prior to Mi Pueblo, Juvenal Chavez was a high school teacher in Michoacán, Mexico and received a bachelor degree in Food Science from the Técnico en Industrias Agropecuarias, in Morelia, Michoacán Mexico. He and his wife and three children live in Santa Clara County, CA.
