BART to consider selling more advertising space

BART is looking for additional revenue. Its board is set to meet today to consider selling more advertising space at its stations and on its trains.

Among the options -- selling the naming rights to stations, adding television monitors in stations and trains, and putting more wrap-around ads on the outside of trains to raise extra cash.

BART was one of the few transit agencies in the nation to end the fiscal year with a budget surplus.

But BART's board says they need to develop new revenue sources to deal with projected future budget shortfalls.
