Regional Medical Center and Good Samaritan now post emergency room wait times on their websites and will send users the same information to their cell phones via text message.
"When patients are hurting, they want to be seen fast," Regional CEO Mike Johnson said. "Sometimes the closest ER isn't the quickest ER."
The information is updated every 30 minutes.
Doctors caution that people with serious injuries, heart attack or stroke symptoms should always call 911.
