Fire tears through De Anza High School cafeteria

Classes will go on as normal at DeAnza High School in Richmond Friday, despite a suspicious early morning fire in the cafeteria.

The fire started around 12:30. It destroyed the kitchen and caused more than $1 million in estimated damage to the building.

Firefighters found residue from fire extinguishers away from the kitchen where the blaze started.

They're trying to determine if the extinguishers were sprayed before the blaze started, or someone was trying to put out a fire that was somehow ignited.
