Maldonado flaunts Democratic endorsements

SAN FRANCISCO

Maldonado held a news conference on the steps of San Francisco City Hall, his opponent's home turf, to announce endorsement from Democrats and independents.

Former Assm. Joe Nation of Marin and former San Francisco Supervisor Tony Hall pledged their support for Maldonado, touting his ability to reach across party lines.

The endorsements did not impress Newsom. He says they were simply Maldonado's attempt to appear moderate, something he claims his rival is not.

It should be noted that Newsom fired Hall from a city job and endorsed Nation's opponent in a 2008 state Senate race.
