Driver arrested for 11th suspended license violation

SANTA ROSA, CA

A CHP officer noticed a Lincoln Navigator driving behind him in the carpool lane on southbound U.S. Highway 101 near Hopper Avenue in Santa Rosa around 5:30 p.m., CHP Officer Jon Sloat said.

When the Lincoln passed the patrol car and moved to the No. 2 lane, the officer noticed the driver was the only one in the vehicle, Sloat said.

He pulled over the Lincoln for the carpool lane violation and determined 35-year-old Daniel Running Bear Steele III was driving on a suspended license and was on probation for a 2006 DUI conviction, Sloat said.

Steele was cited for the carpool lane violation, arrested for the license and probation violations, and booked into the Sonoma County jail, Sloat said.
