Firm: iPad responsible for disappointing PC sales

NEW YORK

Research firm IDC says this single product is a game-changer, responsible for disappointing PC sales.

Apple sold more than eight million iPad's in its first six months on the market -- poaching customers who would have bought PC's, but instead chose the smaller, keyboardless Apple tablets.

The iPad is also hurting sales of netbooks.

Wednesday, shares in the Cupertino based company topped $300 for the first time.
