The event in Concord, which is sponsored by the health department, the Center for Environmental Health and Monument First 5, will be held today from 10 a.m. to noon at the Monument Community First 5 Center at 1736 Clayton Rd.
The event in Pittsburg will be part of La Clinica's Community Health Fair and will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Pittsburg Adult Health Education Center at 1001 Stoneman Ave.
At each event, parents are invited to bring up to three children's toys or products to be tested. They will receive instant results about whether any item contains a potential lead hazard.
Items most likely to contain lead include older painted wooden or metal toys, vinyl toys and inexpensive jewelry.
Lead is particularly dangerous for young children and can harm their development and learning and can cause behavior problems.
