The Potrero Hills Landfill is in Solano County, right near the Suisun Marsh -- a sensitive wetlands that's protected by state law.
The landfill is running out of room for garbage and the owner wants to quadruple its size.
Late on Thursday the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission voted to okay the expansion.
Environmentalists still have several pending lawsuits trying to stop it.
