Study: Whole grains help lose belly fat

BOSTON

A new study out of Tufts University and published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition shows adults who ate three or more servings of whole grains and ate less than one serving of refined grains per day had 10 percent less belly fat than people who did not follow this diet.

Researchers eliminated other factors such as total calories consumed or physical activity levels.

Fat around the belly is linked to cardiovascular disease or type 2 diabetes.
