Russians help restore Fort Ross

FORT ROSS, Calif.

The California State Parks signed a formal agreement with a Russian foundation to help restore the park.

Fort Ross was settled by Russians in 1812 -- making them the first white settlers ever in California and Russians say the fort is very important to them.

This is the first time the state park system has partnered with foreign investors and under the deal, the state will continue manage the park, while the Russians will provide cultural and financial help for restoration projects.
